The Los Cabos ("the Capes") region of the Southern Baja Peninsula is now home to Cabo San Lucas and San Jose del Cabo, in the southern tip of Baja California Sur.
Los Cabos was discovered in the 1940's for its spectacular deep-sea fishing. In the 1970’s, the Mexican Government, through its tourist arm, Fonatur, promoted the 20-mile corridor. |
The Transpeninsular Highway extends the entire length of the Baja California peninsula and connects Cabo San Lucas and the state of Baja California Sur with Baja California Norte.
San Jose del Cabo offers the more tranquil Mexican experience, with a colonial town square, narrow streets, restaurants and small shops. |
